What a great hike! It’s starts easy and friendly, but every day it gets more exiting and challenging! A few challenging parts at the different passes with ropes and iron holds. If you are alone, make sure you join a group to cross the path. Always better to do it together.
And make sure you don’t miss all the great fauna: the Alpine ibex, the park's symbol, along with chamois, marmots, snow hares, foxes, badgers, stoats, weasels and martens. There are also eagles and bearded vultures, and with a bit of luck, you might spot wolves and lynxes.
The rifugios in this hike are absolutely lovely! I will give you an overview of the hike beneath.
Day 1: Pont - Valsavarenche - Vallon de Nivolette - Rifugio Savoia (www.rifugiosavoia.com) Extra option is to do the Grand Colletpas, look for the signs at the start.
Day 2: Lake Leita- Col Rosset - Rifugio Benevolo (www.rifugiobenevolo.com)
Day 3: Col Bassac Dére - Lac Goletta - Refugio Mario Bezzi (www.rifugiobezzi.com)
Day 4: Glacier D’Invergnan - Lake San Martino - Rifugio de L’epée (www.rifugioepee.com)
Day 5: Col Le Fenêtre - Rhemes Notre Dame - Rifugio Delle Marmotte (www.rifugiodellemarmotte.it - a foundation that works which only volunteers and all the revenue goes to Peru - we loved it!)
Day 6: Col de l’entrelor - Lac Djouan - Monte Chandelly - Pont car park.
